Config builder

View as Markdown

Choose the options you need. The output updates as you type, and the preview shows the page your pods will serve. The builder only writes the output: run it yourself, on your cluster.

Release
App

A custom message to show on the page instead of "Hello world!". It is text, so quote it in a values file, or use --set-string, even when it is only a number.

The number of pods.

Service

The Service type. LoadBalancer gives the app an external address. Use ClusterIP behind an Ingress or a Gateway, or with kubectl port-forward.

The port the Service exposes.

Expose

Serve the app under this path prefix, for example /app/hello, behind an Ingress, an HTTPRoute or your own proxy. Leading and trailing slashes are optional. Empty serves the app at /.

Image

The image repository, for example paulbouwer/hello-kubernetes or ghcr.io/paulbouwer/hello-kubernetes.

The image tag, such as 1, 1.11 or 1.11.0. Empty uses the chart's appVersion. A number is used as text, but quote a version tag in a values file: YAML reads 1.10 as the number 1.1.

Every other value is in the values reference.

Reload the page: the Service sends each request to one of 2 pods.

Terminal
helm install hello oci://ghcr.io/paulbouwer/charts/hello-kubernetes \
  --version 1.11.0 --namespace hello-kubernetes --create-namespace \
  --wait
